Gold Coast Ships Ltd completed two of these vessels together for a major Australian mining company, in the allotted time frame of 7 months.
Initial trials gave excellent performance in speed, fuel efficiency and heavy load carrying - a lot to be bundled up into a relatively small package of only 14.4 metres. A comfortable 25 knot loaded speed, the cat’s carry 34 passengers in air-conditioned comfort and 5 pallets of cargo on the aft’ deck.
The extremely strong structural arrangement and exceptional workmanship and welding, will ensure an extended, problem free operation for the vessels in Western Australia.
The design features forward bow passenger access as well as great upper deck access on both sides which is ideal for the proposed crew transfer operations alongside platforms and ships. The aft' deck is reinforced for the carriage of cargo and has 20 heavy duty tie-down points for the securing of up to 5 pallets. Powering is via twin Scania 500 hp engines and ZF V drives.
